The teen choice awards are awards where teenagers vote on their favourite movies and TV awards.
Ashton Kutcher recently gave some awesome advice on life.
Not being afraid of hard work, being thoughtful, generosity and having courage are values we should all live by.
Have a think about your previous week.
What have you worked hard on this week? What were the results of this hard work?
Being thoughtful. How have you been thoughtful towards others this week? Have you had some moments when you needed to be more mindful of others people's feelings? What will you change next week to be more mindful of others?
Having courage. Alongside doing well in your learning, I hope you leave Room 13 with the courage to follow your own path in life. Is there a time recently when you were faced with a popular choice and the right choice? Which choice did you make? Were you happy about it? What did you learn as a result of this choice?

A Persuasive Breakfast
Persuasive writing is all around us. Think about where else you might come across persuasive writing features in action.
How has Kellogg's cereal used persuasive devices to entice us into eating Crunchy Nuts? Please give clear examples.
What are some other examples of persuasive adverts that tempt or draw you in?

Enhancing the Halo Presentation
We were privileged to have Nick and Geoff from the Halo Trust come to 'Lucky 13' to talk to us about the Enhancing the Halo Project. We learnt how we can make Wellington New Zealand's natural capital by making all our back yards into safe havens for native wildlife.
What did you think about the presentation?
Has it made you think differently about our native birds?

I am eleven
What did you think of the film? What would you score it out of 10? Why?
I thought the film was good but sad as well because seeing what some of these kids have to go through is quite sad. For example how Billy from the UK was bullied badly. My personal score would be 8/10 because it would of been a 10 if it wasn't so sad.
Who is your favourite 11 year old? Why? Has this changed from your initial thoughts when we watched the trailers?
Billy because he is a very funny comedian. No, Billy is still my favourite because I learned more about him and think it is admirable for how he overcomes bullying, plus he is pretty funny.
What has stuck in your mind from the film? Is there anything that you are still thinking about?
Remi because I like the french language and he has cool eyes.
What would you like to find out more about from the film?
How long it took to shoot all of this?
Where did the money come from?
What made you laugh/cry/cringe in the film?
Billy gave me a good laugh, sad thing is when they had to brush their with teeth with their hand.

What did you think of the film? What would you score it out of 10? Why?
I thought the film was 99.99% excellent and 0.01 % bits that needed fixing up. Yet overall I thought the film was really good. I think that the fact that the kids featured in the film were only 11 years of age added to the interest of the film for me because I remember when I was 11. I would DEFINITELY give the film 9.5 / 10.
Who is your favourite 11 year old? Why? Has this changed from your initial thoughts when we watched the trailers?
I actually can't decide who my favorite eleven year old is. I did like the way that Remi from France made his judgements about his country and the way that his family uses solar panels instead of the EDF to get power. I also liked Jack from Thailand. I like elephants too. It is a pity I have never been able to get up close with an elephant before.
What has stuck in your mind from the film? Is there anything that you are still thinking about?
The way that Vandana or whoever it was wanted to study Medicine and become a doctor because she was the type of person that was always caring for others. I also liked the way those two boys who wanted to be rappers said that their city will always stay the same because his heart will always be there.
What would you like to find out more about from the film?
The way that they came to be who they were in the film. They all looked like a great bunch of kids.
What made you laugh/cry/cringe in the film?
I thought Billy's thoughts about dirty dancing with all the great dance move and the nice romance was quite funny. I also thought that some other things with Billy and what he said were funny.

What did you think of the film? What would you score it out of 10? Why?
I would score it about a 7 because I was really interested in it but at some part I found it slow and boring. The parts I was most interested in featured Billy because he was really entertaining.

Billy was my favourite eleven year old because he loves wrestling and he was really funny in the trailer. The quote I found funny was when he said how he likes dirty dancing because it has nice romance, I kind of have to agree.
What has stuck in your mind from the film? Is there anything that you are still thinking about?
What I wonder about the film is how the kids will turn out to be when they are older.
What would you like to find out more about from the film?

Billy made me laugh often. I cringed when the girl from Morocco picked up the live chicken and was talking about how that was there dinner.

3. What has stuck in your mind from the film? Is there anything that you are still thinking about?

What athletics day is all about!
I am looking forward to seeing all the different outfits that everyone
will be wearing. I hope that blue stands out the most.
The day will look like some one has got heaps of different pots of paint
and different sized paint brushes and splashed all the colours
of the rainbow onto the green background of the field.
Athletics day is all about trying your best and having a good time
(whilst trying not to hurt yourself!)
Fun Run
After weeks of collecting sponsors the day had come to do the run. All the classes choose a theme and dressed accordingly to that theme. Lucky 13 did boys dress as girls and girls dress as boys. when all the classes were ready we all headed up to the college field warming up and stretching when we got there. the Run was started syndicate by syndicate, Huia went 2nd to last but we didn't mind! some did the limit of 6 laps some did 10 or more but all up it was a great and fun day. I wish I could do it again next year but I had a great time running with my friends and that's what matters!

Start of Lucky 13
On a sunny bright day at intermediate we went out for p/e on the field getting ready for K.O (my favourite outside game) and when started we were the runners 1st so I went to the back cause i was very fast. The teams were year 7 girls and year 8 boys vs year 7 boys and year 8 girls, we had a good time. But my favourite part was when I got a 5 tag montage that was intense but Matt got basically the whole team so... Drag.
The awesome thing more than a brag is that most people in the class play or talk or are addicted to (drum roll) MINECRAFT!!!! YAY. Minecraft is the best and most popular game in the world. Made by a man named Marcus Notch and his partner Jeb.
On the first day of school I thought I was going to get 1 friend but it seems I got more than I expected I got at least more than 20 or 25. The first person I met was a nice boy of the name Cameron but I also saw a boy that came to my old, old school. His name is Casey Gill our student counsellor but I just call him Mister President.
Another sunny afternoon we took a walk to the library and it was all peace and quite until... We heard some terrible singing from some boys also known as friendship power. The people in the band were Casey, Michael, Louis and others. But when we got there they were quite. The man in the library was teaching us how to use the computer and when he was done he showed us the books. We read Simpsons. When we were finished the boys sang the rest of the way back so I joined them. Then we had a nice lunch.

Guess Who?
In lucky 13 we have been working in partnerships asking each other the maximum of 18 questions like "What's your favourite colour?" and "If you could have dinner with 3 famous people who would they be?" etc.
After we asked the questions we had to record the answers and get a piece of paper that looks like puzzle pieces and divide them into to three columns however we wanted to.
When we had written or drew the answers on the puzzle pieces we had to decorate it and give it bright and bold colours. Making sure that our partners name wasn't on it. When we had finished we gave it to Miss. C and she would put it on the wall. At the end of the term we can guess who's is who's and try to guess the whole class.
I really enjoyed this task because it gave us the opportunity to get to know new things about each other.
