Terry Fox ~ Marathon of Hope

What is the key message from this video?  What emotions does it invoke in you?

What has been done well in this documentary? How has the film maker told the story?

Do you know of any other inspirational stories like this (people who have overcome great adversity) ?

What inspires you in life?

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done."
What is something you have overcome that felt impossible at the time? How did you overcome it?

I think the message of this video is to show people that nothing is impossible as long as your inspired.
The emotions I felt watching that video were happiness and sadness.
The thing the film did well was it made you feel towards Terry Fox and they made you fell sorry for him.
The film maker told the story to make you feel you were there and emotional.
I do not no any other stories like this were people go out of there way to inspire people.
I inspire myself by finding out what I can do everyday.

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done."
Something I thought was impossible was dealing with my troubles and problems in life. How I overcome that was taking about it to get the stress out and finding that I'm not alone.

    Hello lucky 13
What I thought the key message from the video is never giving up since TerryFox kept on going and was brave to not stop.

The emotions it invoked in me is inspiration and its also sad.

What has been done well in this documentary is using real people.

How the film maker told the story was good and factual.

I dont think i know any other inspirational stories like Terryfoxs of the top of my mind.

What inspires me in life is other people doing new things and being amazing at it.

I have never done anything as epect as terryfox but doing the 40hour famine is probally the hardest thing ive done.

  3. The key message in this video/documentary is that no matter what you are (I.e: an amputee) or who you are you can achieve great things if you believe you can.

This documentary invokes at first happy thoughts then the thoughts get saddening as the bad news unfolds, yet there is not always bad news, there is sometimes good news and it is both of them you have to recognize no matter how bad or good the news is.

I think that the things that have been done well in this documentary is the way it is getting told, the way the narrator explains it quite well, I actually can't tell if there is anymore.

The film-maker has told about how it all started when he got diagnosed with bone cancer in his knee. He tells about how he got it amputated and then trained for 14 months on his new leg. Then started to run the marathon of hope. The way the narrator explains it quite well makes it speak in a language that is purely understandable.

This is of a disabled mountain climber: Tom Whittaker - (born 1949) is the first disabled person to climb to the summit of Mount Everest. In 1981 he founded the Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor Group (C.W.HOG) in Pocatello, Idaho. While living in Idaho, he was active in the southeast Idaho climbing community. On May 27, 1998, on his third attempt, Whittaker reached the summit of Mt. Everest, a lifelong dream, making him the first person with a disability to accomplish this feat. Whittaker's current quest is to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents. Whittaker's right foot needed to be amputated following a car accident in 1979. Following this serious accident, he regained his strength and continued climbing. Through training, his prosthetic foot became an advantage to climbing rather than a disadvantage. (P.S: Link to other amputated famous people: http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/famous-amputees.shtml)

How people manage to overcome even the greatest of challenges in life.

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done."

I once went to a 90 mile beach sand dune (Which by the way was about 20 meters tall) and I didn't want to climb it but my dad told me to and I said there was always a next time but my dad said there wasn't going to be a next time.

I just went up and started climbing and climbing and after about 5 or so minutes I got to the top and it was actually quite cool up there because there was a nice cool breeze coming so I just lay down and waited for about 2-4 minutes.

  4. the key message from this video was that terry fox wanted to help people with lung cancer and to learn how to run properly with an amputated leg.

The documentary was good because they showed everything and left no details unseen and I think that the film maker did a great job at showing what the documentary was about

I do not know any documentaries that are similar to the terry fox documentary.

One of the things that inspires me is helping other people.

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done, one of the things I have overcome is the stress of going to a new school.

  5. The key message is to never give up even if your struggling and your emotion is feeling awful, Terry Fox with an artificial leg never gave up and ran up to 3000 miles or more during the 14 months he was training.

The film maker in the documentary is showing that Terry Fox a Canadian runner who had an artificial leg because he was diagnosed with cancer in his right knee and he ran up to 3000 miles in 14 months and in that year he got cancer again but in his lungs and he died on the 28th of June 1981.

There is an inspirational story about a man called Aaron Cruden who had cancer and suffered really bad and he fought through it and he recovered from it and later on in his life he became a professional rugby player and now plays for the All blacks.

I get inspired by people who accomplish amazing things like climb mount Everest or recover from cancer like Terry Fox or Aaron Cruden with those things put together.

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done." There is nothing that is impossible because what ever people say is impossible can be done.

  6. The key message from this video is that you try your hardest and never give up. The video made me sad.

The documentary was done well because it was emotional and interesting. The film maker told the story about Terry Fox because He was inspirational and fundraised for cancer.

One inspirational story that I know is about Sir Edmund Hillary who is a New Zealander to climb the tallest mountain "Mt Everest".

My family inspires me in life because thy help me and teach me what is right and wrong.

Recently there was a Cross Country. I wasn't 100% well because of my asthma. I participated and actually did well.

  7. The key message in this video is to stop cancer. The emotions I feel is sad because it is someone that lived a very tough life and ran a marathon every day to try and stop cancer.

I don't know any other inspirational stories like this but I would like to.

Things that inspire my life is my family, my pets, animals, my netball and role models like people that support you.

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done."
Something that I had to overcome that felt impossible at the time was absailing with Miss Caviglia at camp. I was so scared but Miss Caviglia told me I had to do it, so I tried to keep in my fear and be brave but it was hard. It was really fun but really, really, scary at the time.

  8. The key message from this video was that the imposible can be possible, the emotion I felt was happiness and showed me if Terry Fox could do a marathon everyday it means I could do anything. (That is possible)

This documentary shows inspiration and courage for people who have disabilities like Terry. The film maker has told the story well for the people affetcted by a disability.

What inspires me in life is that if Terry Fox could run a marathon a day I can run and never stop.

Something that has overcome me is ab sailing because everybody else did it so if they could do it I could.

  9. The key message from this video is to never give up on yourself and keep looking forwards no matter what anyone thinks or says. What emotions does it invoke in you? Sadness and depression and determination.

To show a person how another person has pursued their dream.By looking at past videos and interviewing the people connected to the main character.

Inspirational stories like this are different from normal stories.Normal stories are usually about people and their life but inspirational stories tell us about a person pursuing their dream and how they try to achieve it.

What inspires me in life is to trying and never give up.

To try new things like paddle-boarding.I tried not to fall into the ocean and head into the middle of the muscles.

  10. The key message that this video shows are helping others instead of thinking about your self.

The emotions that I was feeling while I was watching this video was quite sad because the cancer had returned and I also feel eager to help people with cancer.

The things I enjoyed in this documentary were that he ran around 3000 miles and raised 10,000,000 dollars amazing!!!.

My family inspires me to do my best in life and helps me in everything I do.

Terry said "I want to try the impossible to show that it can be done."
Like Terry to run a marathon I tried to run conel knob that was a challenge for me but I keep going and after a while I made it to the top and that is when I thought I could do anything.
